The Coppola's for Louis Vuitton

Have any of you seen the recent Louis Vuitton ads featuring world renowned director Francis Ford Coppola and his daughter Sophia Coppola? It's a whole different take from the usual glamorous, high society set that Louis Vuitton uses and I like it.

Taken in the countryside of Argentina, the ad has Francis Ford Coppola sitting on a chair talking to Sophia which is lying on the grass, gracefully listening to him.

Accordingly, Louis Vuitton wanted to go back to the basics of the brand and emphasize traveling and the luxury of the Louis Vuitton bag for vacation in this campaign. Louis Vuitton is also promoting the environment and made a donation to The Climate Project.

I love this ad, especially when it's more relatable to the ordinary person. It looks so carefree and peaceful and the use of the father/daughter relationship is remarkable. There's one thing I'm always wondering though, what exactly is Francis Ford Coppola talking about to his daughter?

What I want to know is, what daughter sits there listening to her father like that?? I really adore the background of the picture, but I'm not really a fan of it all together. I think models would've worked for it better.

It's a very beautifull shot picture that's for sure...and I love that family. But the pose or maybe sophia's gaze says "lovers" to me rather than relatives...not sure

Yes, I really like the new Louis Vuitton ads. They're a lot better then the usual saccharine ones. I heard that Nelson Mandela might team up with LV to do a line that will benefit some charity in South Africa. That would be cool!

I really love the new ads. So well composed, and it's sweet to see two of the Coppolas like that.

hmm, a few director how-tos, perhaps?

I definitely agree - the ad is beautifully done and totally relatable.

I just love that it is different from most ads and relatable. I dont always need to be swung by some starving model to want to buy things.

Perhaps he's passing on more directing wisdom to Sofia...

seriously, i love these new ads. i makes me want to drop my whole i-will-never-buy-lv-ever mantra and get one. it's more classy than those jlo ads way back in the day. i love how the ads incorporates life into the brand. it gives it a bit of soul because you actually see it in a real life (as real as lv can get) setting...

did you see the one with Keith Richards. *love*

love,

danny

Shen-Shen made me laugh so hard, since she does have a point. That said, I like the ad. It's much more relatable, and the scenery is amzing.

i adore it too. Love the light of it. so languidly luxe.

I think FFC is telling her to stay away from kirsten dunst :)

I think he's complimenting her films! ^_- I like the ads, it still reads glamorous to me but it's sort of like "old movie" and some of the previous, flashy ads, read "new money" to me. This is relaxed luxury...

I do love it, but I think the Coppolas are supposed to make the brand appear more elitist. I hope LV does return to the luxe travel market.

;0I love the concept for this because the reader brings their own knowledge to this whey they see it, providing a context. I mean it's not just two people sitting there, it's two geniuses that happen to be father and daughter!

Also, I'd be honored to trade links! :)

I hadn't seen this yet--it's a nice change for LV. But FFC looks kind of like he's lecturing, huh?
Sure, I'll do a link exchange. I like your style.

I like the ad, and I was thinking the same thing, what are they talking about??

I saw this ad a little while ago and love the relax atmosphere and the easy relationship between a father and daughter. I can see my father and myself doing the same thing, of course with the LV Neverfull on the side fill with food and drinks. : ) I'd think I have a blanket though!

'Relatable' is the perfect word to describe this beautiful ad. It's much more sincere and likeable than the impersonal glossy world that's usually depicted by luxury brands.

I love how LV took a different direction this time! The natural setting is great, and I love how they don't look at the camera unlike the celebrities.

I think the coppolas make a good brand statement on luxury travel. The general ads of the past few seasons were bland, I haven't paid much attention since 2002, which were my favs!
