Tyra's the First Lady

I am a huge fan of Tyra Banks so I was so delighted to see her on the cover of Harper's Bazaar's September issue. I was thinking, when a supermodel like Tyra Banks which turned producer/show host is on the cover of a big fashion magazine, what is she known as: a supermodel or celebrity? We all know how models don't get to be on the cover of magazines as much in America anymore, so it made me curious.

Now to the politics. I adore how Tyra's portraying Michelle Obama in this spread and it really connects the upcoming election with fashion. If I took a quick glance at the photos, I would have thought it was Michelle Obama herself!

Although the spread seems very biased, I personally like it, but I can understand why many people would be against this whole editorial because they are supporters of John McCain. It's funny though how I hear a lot of buzz about Michelle Obama but not as much on Cindy Lou Hensley McCain, John McCain's wife. I think they are both beautiful, but Obama and his wife are so young and fresh looking. It'll be very exciting to see the results of the election.

I like the spread, I think you hit it right on the nail. John Mccain doesnt get attention becuase he is Older . I think hes too old to run for president ...if im being honest

What a great spread. I love tyra too...she's very human and that's so appealing. She's also an inspiration to anyone in business. Believe in yourself and only good can happen!

I do love Tyra being who she wants to be. But, I'm not sure about her smiles in this editorial.

Maybe cause she's OTT most of the time with facial expressions and that she doesn't smile in most of her photoshoots...

Oh well, gotta give her credit for trying. =)

The first thing I thought when I saw this was: didn't Tyra say she was retiring from modeling? Oh well, I guess when you get a chance to portray a potential First Lady you don't let it slip away!

i really like the spread although i would have liked edwards to stay in he really had no chance. i am happy obama got it but i am praying that our country is ready for a "different" president it is sad that some people are still so racist. You are very right about them never saying anything about Mcain's wife, but everywhere is obama's family

It's a funny shoot to see becuase it reminds me of the ANTM ones where the girls have to portray something else (like a celebrity or a different race) so it's good to see that Tyra herself can pull it off! I like Tyra a lot too, she's very genuine and honest as well as extremely knowledgable. that's why ANTM is better than BNTM or AusNTM, in my opinion.

Worst cover/shoot EVER. I find it extremely offensive in all honesty. I would have preferred the real future first last on the cover than this cow.

What a great photo spread--thanks so much for sharing! Michelle Obama has really come into her own style in these last few months of the campaign and looks great!

I skipped looking at the photos in this post because I haven't got my issue yet, and I want to look at the editorial then, but thanks for posting them.

She looks wonderful and the idea is interesting but I think that politics are not meant to be fashionable ... but I'm on a more conservative side, so maybe it's just me .. hehe :)

First thing I love tyra she is a great role model. Next thing why aren't there many models on covers of glossies anymore and lastly love these pictures. Great Post!

I like Tyra very very much. But she doesn't look like a model on the cover, too bad. I love it that here in The Netherlands, there are mostly models on the cover of a fashionmagazine, and I can understand if.. let's say Harpers Bazaar is using celebrity's, but VOGUE? I really hate that, I mean, it's VOGUE, Anna Wintour should know better.

I agree with you about people being against it because they're voting for John McCain. I really like the pictures though, they're adorable.

Am I the only one who did not like this shoot?

I loved the cover, but the Obama photo was very cheesy.

Tyra is stunning as always. When I first saw these pics it made me think of Carla Bruni being first lady in France and the debate around that...

And yes, I would LOVE to exchange links with you. Your blog is fabulous xxx

Great editorial, I loved it, though I'll admit being from Canada, I'm not as up to date with the election as I would kinda like to be.. but from a fashion/art/modelling sense, I loved this, I think Tyra did a great job.
And I'd love to do a link exchange! I adore your blog.

I like the shoot they did with Tyra, but couldn't she wipe that fake smile off her face just a little?

I love Tyra but I love Michelle more and think this cheesy and Michelle is anything but! I think it's the picture of her in bed with that lost me.

I like Tyra's spread but I think Michelle could pull off her own spread- she is so stylish!
