I think it's out.

Have I gone crazy? Me not liking Project Runway?! What?! But I have to agree with Christian Siriano, the contestants and the show this season just stink! (I know, I know, I shouldn't say that...)

Is it just me to think that Project Runway Season 5 has fallen flat compared to all the other seasons? I remember writing about this season and marking my calendars, but it's just been a big disappointment to me. There's something about this season that I think it's lacking or maybe I'm just tired of it all, meaning I might just be tired of reality tv.

There's a couple of reasons why the show doesn't amuse me so much, one being the challenges! They've been done before by previous seasons or just aren't that exciting. For instance, the first challenge at Gristedes. At first I thought, "Oh this might be fun to watch, but in the end the first season's version of it turned out to be better. And I actually fell asleep in the last episode where they took on drag queens. So new to Project Runway, but I still didn't find it interesting enough.

Another part of the show that bores me are the contestants! You know how all the seasons have funny people with lively characters? Or there's times when you just laugh when you think about hilarious moments from the show, but this season I don't think there are any memorable moments yet.

Maybe it's me just venting out on a Saturday morning, but I seriously think Project Runway needs to step up its game or else they're going to lose one viewer, or maybe more.

Wow, that's so sad. I love Project Runway! We choose not to have cable, so I don't get to watch it until it comes out on NetFlix. I guess I'll have to wait for a while. I know what you mean about reality tv, too much!

Yeah I have to agree that this season is pretty weak compared to season 4 (my favorite). Yet, Project Runway is still my alltime faaavorite reality TV show and I have to watch it every Wednesday :)

And yes, I would love to trade links haha sorry I've been busy and wasn't able to respond to your comment sooner.

peace&love

p.s. I have to ask, with all your ads and stuff do you really earn some money each month from Google?! :P

I totally agree, I'm so dissapointed with this season...the challenges are stupid & the designers are ahnnoying. Hopefully it will get better.

I didn´t watch yet, but for sure I wanna see it!

I've been watching the episodes on youtube after they air. And it doesn't seem quite as good. The challenges seem so much less fashion focused.

I agree 100%. This season (for a lack of better term) sucks.

same here... 100% agreed. Honestly this season's contestants got no talent to wow us compared to the contestants in previous seasons. Oh...they also lack personalities to catch the viewers... What a big disappointment.. =(

the only person i love watching is blayne! he is totally divalicious. i do like korto's designs for the most part, and think kenley is adorable! her hair accessories are the cutest.

I agree. I haven't been totally blown away with any designs yet (although I do like some) and nobody has a big personality either. Plus, they didn't give as much background information on these designers as they did in previous seasons. I really wish they had.

You know, I agree with you. I used to be so excited about watching the other seasons, but now I'm just like, I'll catch it when I catch it. It may also be because I'm tired of the show. Just like I used to like "What Not to Wear." But now it's all the same to me.

i def agree.
the first two seasons had the best contestants - almost every person deserved to win. but now, i feel like there's only one that's truly talented. the rest are just...blah.

Hmm, haven't been watching it that closely, but it seems to me that the first season was the best. I really do hope reality tv is on the way out though...

i feel u. i used to be so excited to see this show because me being a aspiring designer i looked to the contestants for inspiration and i looked at their mistakes to make sure i wouldnt make the same ones. but maybe im like u, im getting tired of reality tv

i gotta say that I've been slow on the downloads (it won't air in OZ for months). I haven't been overly impressed with contestants and please don't get me started on Suede and all his 3rd person talk.

omg i thought i was the only one! i totally agree and felt this as soon as i saw the first episode when they introduce everyone and show their background skills etc. Geez lol. Anyway, love love the blog. I am adding you to my blogroll...this blog is a definite must read for intelligent fashion opinions :)

I totally agree. It's why I've been into downloading Project Catwalk, the UK version, lately. It's so much more entertaining and I'm finding PR season 5 to be SUCH a bore.

OMG, it not just me that thought this season was ridiculous? what a relief. Especially when blayne won that young hollywood challenge with that ugly , cheap dress i was out of my mind. How do u pick that over someone that used to work for marc jacobs? i might be only 15 but even i know better.
p.s. i'm loving ur blog

This season is the same reality TV candy its always been. Its not real fashion, it never has been. It's REALITY TV, wake up and smell the programing! If you thought the first 4 seasons were fashion forward then god help you.

Oh I'm still waiting for the 3rd season. Instead of being sick of the show I'm sick of waiting.

I agree, this season's contestants are either very boring, annoying or arrogant. Some are a combination of these things.

I don't get excited like I used to when a new episode airs. It's like "Ok, I guess I could watch Project Runway..."

How could the creativity and entertainment level drop so drastically since last season?

Tricia said...

a guy named suede talking in the third person? I really need to get cable.

the contestants hav been stinking since the third season.

I love Project Runway, but it's true this season is not overly exciting. Suede talking about Suede is rather annoying and I'm not feeling Blayne-licious, it just feels like he's copying Christian's 'fierce', because he knows he is on tv and will be remembered for it.

yiqin; said...

They've lost me. I think Christian is the last winner of PR! :) I really like Christian. & yes the first was so upsetting already. S1 contestants didn;t have almost all of them using table cloths!!

Ondo Lady said...

I have never really gotten into Project Runway but I find some of the 'quirky' characters a bit too much. It all seems to be drama drama. In the UK we have Project Catwalk and even though we get the odd person who is out there, the emphasis of the show does seem to be more about the clothes. However we are stuck with the awful Kelly Osbourne while you guys have the delectable Heidi Klum. Wanna swap?

Camille said...

Totally agree with you on this one. Last seasons Project Runway was way way better. This seasons is just boring. Thank you for your great opinions! :) I love your blog

Big fan pf P R and I agree this is the crappiest of the seasons. I watch but not impressed this year.

I heard from a nyc fashion pr rep that they were having a hard time finding contestants for this season and I guess this is what we are left with. I agree, the 'designers' are mediocre at best (only 2 that I like but they have no personality) and the challenges are crap. Christian's personality and designs ruined it for the rest!

Ashley Laramie said...

I thought I was the only one who is getting a little Anti PR, but I guess not! None of the designers stand out, but how can you follow up Christian? Plus, all the challenges seem like copies of previous ones.

Catnapsch said...

I love reality shows and I was extremely disappointed by this season as well. I think it's mostly the participants, they seem very blah and easy to figure out. Between hearing 'leatha' and 'blainelicious' every two seconds, I might go nuts.

Kenley was a rude, ungrateful bitch, and everyone else was dull (but I do like Korto's stuff). Basically why I didn't bother to follow Season 5.

Season 4 was by far my favourite. Victorya & Jillian's interior-tartan coat was so chic, it was probably the best piece out of the entire season, but Christian & Chris' (I think?) dress won (even though I love it too) because it took more effort and time. Still...
