Not Again! Please.

A while back I mentioned Avril Lavigne designing her own line and she has officially joined the club and launched her first clothing line, Abbey Dawn, at Kohl's yesterday. Based on her style and what's in her closet, the line is affordable (unlike Lindsay's crazy leggings), and is now available at all Kohl's stores nationwide for the back-to-school campaigns.

I love Avril Lavigne as a musician and I always will, but we have got to stop this whole thing with celebrities trying to design. Maybe they can design, but it's getting so boring these days. There's one thing for sure, I am definitely not going to buy any of her clothes! It's not my style in the first place, and I wish she'd change her attitude from the rebel teenager to an actual rock star. But that's just my opinion.

In the beginning, when celebrities started making their own lines, it was actually exciting. It was cool to go shopping for their clothes, but now it seems to be more embarrassing to buy into their brands. Or is that just me?

In the meantime, here's a clip of Avril talking about her line:

I agree - I don't buy anything from celebrity brands, feels a bit tacky to me. If I saw something that was my style I might get it, but not because of which celeb's name is on the label!
Thanks for your comment btw, I would love to exchange links.

Ugh! I am so tired of celebrity brands. Real designers don't get enough credit because of these phonies!
By the by, I just noticed you named me "blog of the moment"--thanks so much!

I agree - I AM SO TIRED of celebs designing! They're not actuallydesigning it, just using the name.
...Although, I think her clothes are unique.

I totally agree, Its so easy for celebs to ge clothing lines, but so hard for actually talented designers.

I don't even understand where all these celebs get off thinking that they can design a clothing line. Like most of the girls on the Hills did it. Since when did Heidi want to be a singer and a fashion designer. Also Jessica Simpson. What is the world coming to

I agree, the only celeb with a really good line is Gwen Stefani. But everyone else's lines are quite boring and very basic.

I have to agree with you here.Too many celebrities 'design' clothes becuase they know they will sell and therefore get more money! Although I do adore Gwen Stefani's clothing line L.A.M.B but her line came out when it was exciting and new to create your own clothing line as a celebrity.

Yes of course! I'm gonna link you too! xx

Gwen gets a pass, but if celeb lines endure, there should be some kind of fund set up or scholarship, that a percentage of all sales goes to young, no-name talented designers.

Thanks! And yes, I take my own pictures. I have a tripod and I use the self-timer.

I agree. It is totally embarrassing to shop for celebs clothing lines. It is such a joke. Like Lauren Conrad's... seriously? Her stuff can not be real.

Oh and thanks for the comments I linked you back.

I suppose everyone's got to throw their hat into the clothing design ring now. It's just another way to stay in front of consumers and make money.

Yuk! I hate the clothes, little girls that are 10 years old would wear them, not normal people.

Celebs and their lines are starting to irritate me... I mean come on, can someone be more original, isn't that's what their job is all about... ORIGINALITY?
