A Girl's Best Friend

Throughout the past few days I've been debating with my siblings on what a girl's best friend is. I'm sure everyone's heard of the famous phrase, "A diamond is a girl's best friend." but is that really true anymore?

A while ago I read a quote by a shoe designer once say, "A girl's best friend is not a diamond, but a pair of shoes." My sister finds this very true and that girls treasure their shoes more than anything. However, I feel like diamonds are more precious and timeless than shoes and they definitely don't wear out as much!

Many people might also refer to the popular saying, " A dog is a man's best friend." and agree that a dog is a woman's best friend as well. True, dogs unlike cats are very loyal towards their owners, always willing to serve and protect them anytime. They are so bright and full of energy, and I'm sure that a dog can bring a smile to just about anyone's face. They are just too cute, aren't they?

There are so many things that girls treasure. Makeup, skin care products, clothes, magazines, cell phones, boyfriends, and the list can go on and on. But to me, I think a girl's ultimate best friend is money. Just think about it, you could practically buy anything that a girl wants with money. If someone offered me a diamond necklace or a handful of money, I'd probably go for the money. Oh, that makes me sound so greedy (I'm not really! No, really.)

As I wrote before, there are so many things that a girl loves and treasures, and I'm sure it defers with each and every girl. In my opinion it's money, my sister thinks it's shoes, and my brother, well this was his reply, "Oh geez. Girl's are so complicated! Some like this, some like that. Don't ask me!" But in the end, his answer was money as well.

For products I think a diamond still is a girl's best friend, because when given as a gift it doesn't fade or wear out and the monetary value is a source of security. That's why those from paupers to princess girls who ride on their looks want diamonds, b/c when they fade they'll have a nice little stockpile of funds in the form of jewels...
For me though a girl's best friend is a book--never leave home without one!

My best friend is... my best friends :) You can't beat real love and affection and quality friendship that glows stronger than any diamond.

Definitely shoes are the girl´s best friend. A good example of this is Carrie and her "Manolos". In my case I´m in love with the Dior Gladiator Sandals and the Givenchy ones which I posted in my last post.

I think a girl's best friend is money. Because then it's versatile to be able to afford whatever the individual's obsession is xD

My best "fashion" friends are a good pair of jeans and shoes, definitely. But my real best friends are just that: my best friends, and also my family.

a girl's best friend is herself because she always treats herself to the things she loves most, whether it's shopping or quality time with important people in her life.

This is a very interesting post. I don't know if it was meant to, but it really makes you think about what's important to you.

I would have to give honor where honor is due, first, and would have to admit that my best friend has been God. I have gone through so much these last few years, with the death of parents, financial woes and the like; there's no doubt I would have lost my mind if not for the love of Christ in my life.

Now for the tangible. I have to agree with vintage vinyl, my best friend in this life is my best friend, Tracy. No matter how long we go without speaking, when we talk it's like we were never apart.

But as far as "things" go, my favorite without at doubt is shoes, and the MONEY to BUY them!

Please forgive the novel:.)

Keep writing, sweetie. Your stuff is very insightful.

Diamonds, shoes, my dog--all of these things are wonderful, but my best friend is P., because even if I didn't have any of the above, I'd still be the luckiest girl ever . . . {p.s. a fantastic handbag is also high on the list}

it's like the question - would you rather someone pick out a gift for you or give you money instead?
I say it depends on the person.
If my parents give me money - hurray.
If my boyfriend gives me money I'd cry. (but still take it)

yah it depends..

for me its the "love" i share with the people & places i love & treasure.. so cheesy but its true for me, that i might actually resign from my job to go back home soon (watch out for that!) :)

My boyfriend gets really angry when I say him I prefer a pair of Manolos better than a brides ring. I guess I am more in the shoes side at the moment.
