In one of my previous posts I mentioned the hunch pose. During my search for a good picture to use as an example, I came along both Guerlain's fragance ad and a photo from one of Lily Cole's editorial shoots. I find it amusing that both models are wearing dresses with extremely long trains that drop down from a spiral staircase.
Both are lovely and I can't seem to figure out which one I like better. Guerlain's ad is very fairy-tale like and she looks gorgeous whereas Lily Cole's picture is more on the high fashion and edgy side. I really love the set of Lily's photo, but Guerlain doesn't go wrong with their choice of a more chic and classy background. Which do you like better or are you like me and can't choose?

I prefer Guerlain, it looks more romantic and the dress seems to be more flattering, also about the light, and the location, not so clear, which gives mystery to the picture.
I love this image of Lily Cole, the colours are beautiful!
I think they're both stunning in different ways. The vibrant colour in the first and the high contrast lighting in the second are both dramatic. Gorgeous photos!
i think i like the one of the right, i love the lighting
Are these photos taken on the same spiral staircase? I like the fairy tale scene - it's dreamlike and real at the same time. The other is beautiful, but reminds me of a prom photo backdrop.
I love both photos. It's hard to choose, but I think I like the fairytale one better.
Thanks so much for your comment. I was out of commission for a while, sorry it took me so long to reply. I'm so happy to get comments I'm positively giddy!
I have added Fashion Addict to my blogroll. Let me know when you add me to yours.
For the love of Fashion!
I didn´t know the photoshoot of Guerlain but I prefer the Lily Cole´s, I don´t know why, maybe it´s because the contrast of colour but they are very similar.
I can't really choose either, but my what fun it would be to recreate this look!
OMG!!! I love both of them. Guerlain's ad reminds me of a spring wedding while Lily Cole's remind me of a seductive night out on the town!
Thanks for commenting on our post about luxurious shoes too!
I really love the one with lily cole. I want to be her in that pic!
Both so amazing pictures! Cant really choose either.
Lily's.
Her hair makes everything that could be wrong with a picture, awesome.
I prefer girl at the Lily Cole image and surroundings from Guerlain.
gotta love em both!
the lily cole is my favorite. i like the contrast of the stark background with that wonderfully glamorous dress...these are both beautiful illustrations of an otherwise overplayed pose.
Hmmm.. i can't decide either! It's like one's for day and the other night. If I HAD to pick otherwise someone would chop both my legs off, I'd choose Guerlain's :) Just because I love the rustic look of the building :P
wow, what a similar set of pictures. i'm leaning towards the lily cole picture. the guerlain ad has a romantic and ethereal quality to it, and you can just almost see the old building in the background if you peer beyond the starry night, but i love how all the pretense has been stripped away in the other picture, and you're left with nothing but a blatant juxtaposition of glamourous beauty and dilapidated antiquity, all paint chips and dust and crumbling walls. amazing.
